Carlos Yulo added another major achievement to his decorated career after winning the men’s floor exercise final at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on September 24 in Nagoya, Japan.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist scored 14.666 points to claim the gold medal. His victory also gave the Philippines its first gold medal of the 2026 Asian Games.

    Yulo Rules the Floor Exercise

Yulo delivered a strong routine in the eight-man final. He recorded 8.966 points in execution and 5.7 in difficulty for his winning score of 14.666.

Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi finished second with 14.600 points. Japan’s Shoma Tsukiyama completed the podium with 14.566 points. Yulo won by only 0.066 points over Karimi in a close final.

The victory also gave Yulo his first Asian Games medal. He had previously competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, where he finished seventh in the floor exercise final.

Eight years later, Yulo returned to the continental competition with a different result. His gold in Nagoya added another major title to a collection that already includes Olympic, World Championship, Asian Championship, and Southeast Asian Games gold medals.

A Golden Moment for the Philippines

Yulo’s victory became an important moment for Team Philippines. His gold was the country’s first of the Aichi-Nagoya Games and pushed the Philippine medal tally to one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals at the time of the result.

The gold also completed a major part of Yulo’s international medal collection. The Olympic champion had already reached the top of the podium at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he won gold in both floor exercise and vault.

With the Asian Games title now added to his achievements, Yulo has collected major gold medals across the Olympics, World Championships, Asian Championships, Southeast Asian Games, and Asian Games.

    More Medals Within Reach

Yulo’s Asian Games campaign is not over yet. He is also set to compete in the men’s vault and parallel bars finals, giving him more opportunities to add to his medal haul in Nagoya.

For now, however, his floor exercise victory stands as a major highlight for Team Philippines. Yulo delivered the country’s first gold of the Games and added another milestone to one of the Philippines’ most successful gymnastics careers.
