The Adamson University Lady Falcons continued their strong run in the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge after sweeping the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses, 25-23, 25-17, 25-17, on September 20 at Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City.

The straight-set win gave Adamson its fifth victory in six games. It also secured the Lady Falcons a spot in the semifinals. The defending champions now sit at 5-1 in the tournament.

    Aseo Leads the Charge

Joy Aseo powered Adamson with a game-high 19 points. She scored 16 points from attacks and added three blocks.

Aseo made an impact at the net. She came off the bench in the opening set. She then became one of Adamson’s key players as the match progressed.

Her blocking became especially important in the third set. Aseo recorded two of her three blocks in the final frame. She helped stop UST’s attacks and gave the Lady Falcons more room to pull away.

Aseo was not the only player who stepped up for Adamson. Lhouriz Tuddao added 12 points. Frances Modri also finished with 10 points.

Fhei Sagaysay helped control the offense. She recorded 14 excellent sets and added two points.

The Lady Falcons also had the advantage in team attacks and blocks. Adamson finished with 42 attacks against UST’s 34. The defending champions also had 11 blocks compared with UST’s five.

    Adamson Takes Control

The opening set was the closest of the three. UST stayed within reach and tied the score at 23-all.

Adamson then found the final two points. A UST crossing violation gave the Lady Falcons a set point. An attack error from Marga Altea followed. Adamson took the opening frame, 25-23.

The second set was more controlled by Adamson. The Lady Falcons built a five-point lead at 16-11. They continued to extend the advantage and closed the set, 25-17.

UST tried to respond in the third set. The teams were tied at 7-all early in the frame.

Adamson then found another strong run. Aseo and Tuddao delivered key attacks. The Lady Falcons opened an 18-10 lead and never looked back.

Adamson completed the sweep with another 25-17 victory. The result also gave the team a semifinal spot.

    UST Faces a Must-Win Situation

Angge Poyos led UST with 13 points. Regina Jurado added eight points.

The loss dropped the Golden Tigresses to 3-3. Their final elimination-round game will be against the College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers on September 27.

The match will be important for UST’s semifinal hopes. Adamson, meanwhile, already has its place secured.

For the Lady Falcons, Aseo’s performance adds another strong showing to their V-League run. With the semifinals ahead, Adamson will look to carry the same attacking and defensive intensity into its next matches.

  • San Beda Adds to NCAA’s Strong Showing Against UAAP Teams

San Beda Adds to NCAA’s Strong Showing Against UAAP Teams

San Beda University continued the NCAA’s strong showing against UAAP opposition after the Lady Red Spikers defeated the University of the East, 3-2, in the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge.

The victory gave San Beda its second straight win after previously snapping its winless start with a five-set victory over reigning NCAA champion Colegio de San Juan de Letran. The Lady Red Spikers entered the match with a 1-2 record, while UE also carried the same mark.

    San Beda Holds Off UE

San Beda and UE battled through a tight five-set contest, with the Lady Red Spikers eventually securing the victory to improve their position in the standings.

The result gives San Beda another confidence boost after its earlier breakthrough against Letran. The team showed its ability to stay composed in a close match and finish strong against a competitive opponent.

    NCAA Teams Making Their Mark

San Beda’s victory adds to an interesting trend in this year’s V-League, where NCAA teams have continued to challenge established UAAP programs.

Arellano University, one of the tournament’s unbeaten teams, has already defeated UST in a five-set battle and remains perfect at 4-0. Benilde has also competed closely against UAAP opposition, while San Beda has now secured wins against both Letran and UE during its V-League run.

The results highlight the competitiveness of the V-League, where teams from the NCAA and UAAP are given the chance to face each other outside their respective leagues.

    San Beda Gains Momentum

For San Beda, the win over UE is more than just another victory on its record. After struggling to find its footing early in the tournament, the Lady Red Spikers now have back-to-back wins and are beginning to build momentum.

With the NCAA and UAAP teams continuing to go head-to-head, San Beda’s latest victory adds another chapter to the growing competition between the two collegiate leagues. The Lady Red Spikers will look to carry this momentum into their succeeding matches as they continue their V-League campaign.

  • Arellano Lady Chiefs Ride V-League Run Into NCAA Season 102

Arellano Lady Chiefs Ride V-League Run Into NCAA Season 102

The Arellano University Lady Chiefs remain unbeaten in the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge, improving to 4-0 and keeping pace with Adamson University at the top of the women’s division. Both teams currently hold perfect records, setting up a crucial meeting between the two unbeaten squads on September 12.

    Lady Chiefs Continue to Roll

Arellano secured its fourth straight victory after sweeping the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 25-19, 25-16, 25-18, on September 5 at Gameville Central Park.

The Lady Chiefs controlled the match with a balanced offensive attack, finishing with a 42-26 advantage in attacks. Heart Villaflores led Arellano with 16 points, while Cris Servidad added 11 and Kacelyn Punzalan contributed 14 points on six attacks, five blocks, and three aces.

The strong start has placed Arellano in a favorable position as the V-League continues. With Adamson also sitting at 4-0, the two teams are set for a battle that could determine who takes control of the standings.

A Stronger Start for NCAA Season 102?

Beyond the V-League standings, Arellano’s current run could also become an important confidence boost heading into NCAA Season 102.

The Lady Chiefs ended NCAA Season 101 with a 6-7 record in Group B before advancing to the quarterfinals, where they faced Benilde. Their campaign ended before the Final Four, leaving the team with another season to build on its experience and address the gaps that kept it from making a deeper postseason run.

Their unbeaten V-League record now gives Arellano an opportunity to show how much the team has developed since its previous NCAA campaign. The consistency they are showing against collegiate opponents could provide valuable preparation and momentum once NCAA Season 102 begins.

For now, the Lady Chiefs remain focused on the V-League, where their next challenge comes against fellow unbeaten Adamson on September 12. How far this run takes them could offer an early indication of what Arellano can bring when the next NCAA season arrives.
